Dewasa

Tuhan
Dewasakan aku dengan kepayahan
Ajarkan aku dengan kesusahan
Agar aku akan kenal dengan ketabahan
Agar aku biasa dengan kekecewaan

Tuhan
Ajari aku dengan penderitaan
Ajari aku dengan kepedihan
Agar aku hargai setiap cinta yang Kau berikan
Agar aku nikmati setiap titis kasih
Yang Kau izinkan aku kecapi
Dengan seribu penghargaan
Dengan seribu pengertian

Tuhan
Limpahkanlah kesabaran ke atasku
Cucurilah ketabahan kepadaku
Agar aku lebih kuat dari dahulu
Agar aku tidak alpa dalam mengecap nikmat-Mu
Agar aku sentiasa dalam redha-Mu
Agar aku akan kembali ke dalam rahmat-Mu
Di dalam kebencian keujuban insan.

The Sleeping Boy and The Sleeping Ummah

Syed Wali Shah, aged 7

srizals

The sleeping boy sleeps soundly
While the sleeping Ummah is restless in living nightmares
Divided and surrounded by enemies

Still busy as always
Quarrelling among themselves
Of who is right and the most bright
Until their hearts are divided

Weaken without consensus and sacrifices
Too afraid to remember their  prophet's teaching
Too proud to adhere to their book of guidance
Too weak to defend themselves
Too meek to help the oppressed

The sleeping boy remained asleep
Not bothered with the noise made by the fractured Ummah
In dreams far away from harm
In dreams far away from harm

My Coffee Tree

srizals

My coffee flowers are blooming
Showered by the pure and gentle
Thousand little drops of rain

The scent and wetness mingles
The freshness of cool sweet breeze
How I wish it would last
How I wish it would last

Why?

srizals@gmail.com

Why, you asked me?
How long has it been?

The oceans are dying
The leatherbacks are disappearing

We pollute with plastics
Choking the earth with smoke

By our greed,
Our never ending greed

There’s still hope for tomorrow
A hope for tomorrow

Let’s move forward
A little step at a time

Let’s remedy the earth
For the sake of our children
For us, your own little children
