Hindusim is not major religion of USA..and coming back to religious speeches in USQA.U must read speech by Swami Vivekananda in world congrees of religions in chicago .He has started his speech was received by standingh ovation..........I think every one in this world ackowledges Hindusim greatness.U may hate it for ur reason"mr jai hind" But the fact remains that hindusim has been and will be one of torch bearers of principle of ahimsa.our vedas teach us and our great father of nation has taught us.Ur nation all it has is Jiinnah...give me one good instance where jinnah was really ackowledged by world community ........U know gandhi was welcomed in USA during his visit and till date remains one of the few very indians on whom time has ran a cover story...................Gandhi has remained an epitome of peace........U know why he was assasinated ,becos he has stood for cause of Hindu muslim unity.Hindusim has produced such a gr8 individuals..we have never produced osama, zwahiri,or say ramzi yusuf who are bent upon killing innocent ppl for seeking thier senseless fundamentalistic attitudes

From what I understand of Judaism, they are no more interested in marketing their religion than Hinduism which is kind of ironic considering the typical anti-Semitic literature/rants. I fully agree that Islam is very focused on conversion, nay possibly obsessed. This necessarily begs the question of why? Islam as it is currently interpreted and practised requires a steady infusion of 'new blood' if it is to perpetuate itself. This is a result of social and cultural practises which mean that if Islam does not have a steady source of new converts it will wither and die as a faith system. I rely on the demographics, muslims openly proclaim how numerous they are, I don't disagree with their figures even when they are exaggerated because the truly Muslim and even the very few Islamic countries in the world seem to share a number of common and from my perspective undesirable traits. Namely, poor education, poor public health care, low life expectancy, government corruption and lack of a civil society. In western/westernised countries the greatest success rates for conversion to Islam occur in High Security Prisons amongst the inmates, as much as I would like to comment on this further I shall refain. To me it is perfectly natural that Islam must actively evangelise and successfully convert non-muslims by whatever means necessary or perish. As Hindus and Jews see no need to do so these faiths are most alien to the Muslim mind set and are thus accorded a disproportionate degree of Islamic hostility.

Khalsa Raj PAKIS - One of many many examples of enlightened people escaping your faith 9/7/2005 9:50:31 PM
Just reach Sant Lakhbir Singh of village Bakapur who became a devout Sikh after leaving Islam! Sant Lakhbir Singh (1860-1935) a convert to Sikhism was born Karim Baksh to Muslim parents, Natthua and Basri, at Bakapur, a sma11 village about 3 km from Phillaur, in the Punjab, which became the site of a big Sikh convention at the advent of the twentieth century. Karim Bakhsh had a religious bent of mind from the very beginning. This disturbed his family, who, to detract him from his lonely ways, married him to a girl, named Jlndo, when he was barely twelve. At the age of 15, Karim Bakhsh's quest for spiritual company took him to a Sikh saint, Bhai lkahla Singh of Banga, in Jalandhar district. He spent two years at his feet. After Bhai Kahla Singh's death, Karim Baksh Sought solace in the service of his disciple, Bhai illa Singh of Thakurval, in Hoshiarpur district. For twelve years he presentcd himsclf once every week in the holy saligat at Thakurval, about 30 km away from his village.

hinduatma ----U know gandhi was welcomed in USA during his visit and till date remains one of the few very indians on whom time has ran a cover story..................Gandhi has remained an epitome of peace........U know why he was assasinated----- Let me get this straight! Did Gandhi, yes Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Mahatma, Porbhandar born Bania, ever vist the U.S. of A.? I could not find any info regarding this. The only thing 'American" Gandhi ever had was the Ingersoll silver pocket watch, valued at $8 dollars(then) and he used the two door Buick car, U.S. made, to visit the Viceroy, after the Jalianwallabagh massacre, and that was well before proceeding to the Round Table Conference, in London. Correct me, if I am wrong. Here's the shocker! BTW, Gandhi, with his avowedly pacifism & peace policy was termed as India's national misfortune by many, including Moti Lal Nehru(father of Jawahar Lal) and Sarojini Naidu said, that it took millions of rupees to keep the Mahatma poor!

To tell you the truth-none of you Pakistanis have the faintest clue either abt Islam or the Koran! I am sick and tired of reading these stories abt people killing in the name of the prophet even in your holy month. The Koran needs to be revamped totally or discarded!its too much of a threat to the free world!

Shirrush RE: Conversion to Hinduism??? 10/14/2005 3:21:54 PM
You all must pardon my crass ignorance, but I was not aware that such a thing even existed. Conversion to Islam is a process that culminates solemnly with the convert saying the Shahadah, becoming a Christian involves Baptism, Communion, and the abjuration of any previous faith, and you'd better be female if you're long-winded and patient enough to want to become Jewish, because otherwise it'd hurt in addition to driving you bonkers! I've seen people adopting Hindu rituals, ideas and dietary restriction, but none of them ever mentioned any sort of conversion process or being certified as a full card-bearing Hindu by a Brahmin or any other sort of religious authority. Most Jews, like most Westerners, usually chose the less complex and somewhat less demanding Buddhism as their way to apostasy (shame on them!), but I've heard of quite a few instances of people joining an ashram and then staying on for the whole thing, without ever undergoing anything even remotely reminiscent of a conversion ceremony. I think it is a given that many Hindus have converted to Islam in the last few decades in order to escape their lower-caste condition, but isn't it true that even more have joined the actively-proselytizing Catholic Church, especially in South India? When I was growing up in W. Europe, there was a convent across the street where I lived, and there were plenty of tiny brown, underfed-looking very young nun novices from Kerala looking out of place among the large burly fair-skinned teutonic natives. I also remember an authoritative, leading and high-ranking orthodox rabbi introducing us kids to the powerful attraction of the inclusiveness and of the inherent tolerance of the Hindu philosophy, by showing us Hebrew rabbinical-esoteric texts from the 17th or 18th century's India, where we could detect the strong Hindu odor of the reincarnation theory. Judaism per se focusses on earthly life and does not have much of a central afterlife mythology, so adapting the Indian thing to the Jewish taste went nowhere near heresy but this still exemplifies the power of Hinduism as the most ancient , most comprehensive and most complex of all extant religions.

There are plenty of instances of conversion from Islam to Hinduism, I provide one prominent example below:.
See: Khan, Abdul Majid, "Research about Muslim Aristocracy in East Pakistan" in Pierre Bessaignet edited book - Social Research in East Pakistan, Asiatic Society of Pakistan, (Dacca 1960)
On pages 23-25 it states that because of Caitanya's influence large scale conversions to Hinduism took place at the end of the eighteenth and beginning of nineteenth century

The caption should have been: Why is it that millions and millions of Hindus, along with with millions of non-muslims, have been raped/prostituted/sodomized into islam, and not the other way around? Now you know the answer!
Islam was accomplished through a terrorist manual called koran, devised by a caravan-theif-pedophile, who conveniently married his mush older employer kadhija and a six year old girl, and openly listed for his daughter-in-law, and had his son divorce his wife, so that he could bed his own ex daughter-in-law? SIMPLE!

rogue Expansionism of islam and christianity 9/20/2006 1:22:22 AM
Hinduism is not expansionist by nature....hindu's do not strive to convert as many people to their religion as possible. Islam and christianity on the other hand are expansionist and so they are at the verge of a "another" major conflict. Adopting hinduism is a matter of personal choice rather than being either forced (islam) or lured (christianity) into conversion.

Yesterday, the BBC reported a 18 yr old Muslim girl in England went to India to marry her 21 yr old Hindu boyfriend, whom she met on the internet, and married him.
The photo showed the girl and the boy with garlands. Neither the boy chose leave Hindu faith nor the girl chose to become a Hindu, though the wedding was solemnised in a generic Hindu style, which is impossible in islam.
The girl's father in England(last name Gaur) was highly distraught, and exploded in no uncertain terms. The mother of the girl wanted the boy to convert to islam save himself and the marriage and the girl!
Thank goodness and fairplay, the boy and the girl chose to live in India, after getting married
